The library today
Today the Fergana Regional Information-Library Center named after Akhmad al Fragoniy is one of the largest libraries in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The book fund of the library represents richest collection of books since 18 century, and totals in about 350 thousand articles. It is the literature, both in Uzbek language in Russian, as well as in English, German, French languages. There are specialized notes collection, music records, rare books, newspapers etc. in funds of the library. From the 300 periodic editions, which the library receives 87 come from the CIS countries.
The library provides all-round disclosure of its book funds in visitors` interests through catalogue system, card files and various forms of exhibition work.
The library is the place for cultural - educational and educational activities involving the local writers, poets, artists, scientists, presentations of new books, readers conferences and other cultural programs for the readers and the library employees.
The Center of legal information is opened in the library, whose mission is open access of users to the legal information and normative-legal acts with purpose of getting knowledge and increasing legal culture of the population of Fergana region.
The library carries out a program on creation the Centers of legal information in regions and remote villages.
We are the methodical center for 20 regional and urban libraries including 550 libraries and more than 100 libraries of various departments. Our library employees visit the regional and urban centers rendering methodical and practical help on sites. The directors and managers of the departments have an opportunity to increase their professional level, get themselves acquainted with innovational processes in library trade on seminars, which regularly take place.
Association of the librarians of Fergana region was created in order to improve the library service, coordinate the work on safety of library funds, development and modernization of library trade in the region, and to increase the status of a librarian and library trade. The members of the Association took part in the international conferences "Central Asia 99" and "Crimea 2001".
