Librarianship consultant from the USA visit  21.10.2009 12:00

On October 15th, 2009 the adviser on librarianship Mr. William Middleton from the USA visited our library. He had an excursion around the library and held a conversation with the users of the Hall of foreign literature - pupils and students of the Fergana academic lyceums, colleges, high schools. The readers learning English language had a great opportunity to have an alive chat with a native speaker and practice speaking.

Mr. Middleton talked to the library users on various topics which spanned discussion of Shakespeare works, books about Harry Poter, and stories about American libraries.

The users asked about the professional work of Mr. Bill, what hobbies he had, what books read, what Uzbek meals loved, etc.

Also our visitors were very interested to know how he likes it in Fergana. He said he liked our green city, the Uzbek sheep kebab and plov. The users also asked questions about library work, about the difference between libraries of Uzbekistan and the USA.

billThey discussed the problems of library electronic resources building and delivery to the readers. Mr. Middleton told about what interests the American youth had, about what privileges children had at the libraries, about the Nobel Prize reception by the USA President Barack Obama, about American holidays. The readers asked him about interesting moments in his library practice, about recommendations which he could give on studying foreign languages.

Besides Mr. Middleton has brought new books and magazines for the library users on studying English language.

The conversation has turned out to be very interesting and cognitive, so that the users did not wish to let him Mr. Middleton go. At parting he wished the users to keep studying language, and they wished him to keep visiting so that they had a chance to practice.
